Personal Retrograde (2020)
This was a project I worked on for my information design class under the guise of “personal data”. For my personal data, I decided to compare my spending over the course of a month with my mood, and the changes in the stars and moon phases. I was trying to see a pattern between how much I spend, and what I was spending on compared to the planetary changes. I found there to be loose correlation, but not the strong pattern I had hoped for initially. In terms of design, I took inspiration from a traditional monthly calendar as well as star maps. After establishing this design framework, I was able to overlay the data I had collected. Highlighting larger purchases and planetary changes with size, and utilizing the visual language of star maps to represent my energy and spending. After the data was all collected, I connected patterns across the month to find my answers.
